MHS AP Exam Attendance Policy
Be sure to read this carefully. It is expected that all AP test takers and their parents fully understand the policies outlined below. Failure to comply with the testing policies of Montgomery High School and/or CollegeBoard could result in the student losing the opportunity to sit for exams.
**All students are expected to sit for their exams during the regular exam administration**
-
The month of May is often a time when special events occur (trips, sporting events, college graduations, etc.), make-up exams will not be offered in these situations.
-
Students who have a conflict between an exam they are taking at another school and an exam they are taking at MHS will not be eligible for an alternate exam at MHS.
-
Exceptions may be made at the discretion of school administration and will only be considered under the following circumstances:
-
The student has two AP exams on the same day and time
-
There is a conflict with a championship/playoff game for an MHS athletic team on which the student is an active participating member (regular season or re-scheduled regular season games are not considered a conflict)
-
Severe illness:
-
The AP coordinator must be notified via email at least two hours before the start of the exam.
-
Documentation will be required and must indicate that the student was seen in person by a licensed medical professional within 24 hours of the start of the exam; the professional must explicitly state that the student's symptoms were severe enough that it would be impossible for the student to take an exam.
-
The situation will be reviewed by administration to determine eligibility for a make-up exam. The decision will be communicated to the student/parent within two school days of the missed exam.
-
Please note: Exams missed due to illness do not automatically qualify for a make-up, even with documentation. It is strongly recommended that students make every possible effort to take their exam during regular administration, otherwise they risk not being able to take the exam at all.
Arrival / Dismissal
-
Students must arrive at the testing location by 7:30 a.m. for a morning exam and 11:30 a.m. for an afternoon exam. Late arrivals will not be admitted once testing has begun and a make-up exam will not be offered in the event of lateness.
-
Students may not be dismissed until the exam has officially ended. The full exam from start to finish includes the time needed to distribute and collect materials as well as time for breaks and will be significantly longer than the time students are actually taking the test, so plan accordingly.
