Normal Community West HS's AP Policy

What to Expect:

Each exam has its own unique requirements, but most have the following in common:

• 2.5 - 3.5 hours long

• Multiple-choice in the first part & Free-Response Questions in the second part

• Important: You’ll need to remember your College Board student account information to access your digital AP Exam in Bluebook on exam day. Saving your password on your device won’t work. 

Digital and Hybrid Exams

• Digital - Both multiple choice and free-response questions will be administered through the Bluebook app on your Chromebook

• Hybrid - Complete multiple-choice questions and view free-response questions in Bluebook, but you’ll handwrite your free-response answers in paper exam booklets. 

What to Bring:

• No. 2 non-mechanical pencils (multiple choice)

• Pens with black or dark blue ink (free response & completing the exam booklet)

• An acceptable calculator 

• A “dumb” watch (no access to the internet or alarms), analog (non-digital)

• AP Physics: a ruler or straightedge 

• Layers: Wearing multiple layers will allow you to make adjustments so that you remain comfortable.

• Water in a closed container and snacks for break time

• All Exams: Must bring a school-issued Chromebook fully charged and charger

What NOT to Bring:

• No cell phones, meta glasses, smart phones or other electronic devices(leave your bags in your car or locker)

• No books, notes, compasses, protractors, whiteout, dictionaries, highlighters, or colored pencils

• No bags…..again, leave your bags in your car

Attendance:

• Double check what tests you are registered for on your Total Registration account

  • AP exams can still be canceled for a partial refund if requested by April 30, 2027 ($40 retained, balance returned)

• You will be excused during your test and for one period to get lunch

  • Morning testers: excused 0th - 5th hour

  • Afternoon testers: excused 4th - 8th hour

• All-day testers should pack a lunch - you will not have much time to eat before your next test begins. 

• You need to provide your own transportation

• Arrive 20 minutes early.  Tests will start promptly at 8 am or 12 pm. 

Testing locations will be shared in the 2nd semester

Late Testing Policy: Late/Make-up testing is not available for unapproved reasons. To request late testing without an additional fee, official documentation must be submitted to the AP Coordinator for one of the following reasons:

• Athletic Event: Official email/note from coach.

• Illness, Injury, or Emergency: Doctor’s or Emergency Room note.

• Exam Conflict: Two AP exams scheduled at the exact same date & time (approved automatically)

• Accommodations: Students with an IEP or 504 plan must be pre-approved by the College Board. Please contact Ms. Bollmann to ensure your accommodations are requested. Details can be found at College Board Accommodations.
