Hopkins High School's AP Policy

HOPKINS AP POLICIES OVERVIEW

Hopkins strictly adheres to College Board policies and procedures as an AP certified school.  The guidelines stated below are in line with our membership requirements as such.

Students MUST attend their designated exam site when their exam is split between two or three sites or no exam materials will be available for them.   Exam locations will be finalized and sent to you in mid- to late-April.  They will be posted at school and sent to the email addresses that you listed as contacts in the registration process (both to student and parent emails listed).

Students must report NO LATER than the stated times for each exam.  This allows for check-in and verification of ID and seating of students.  Please note that due to later school start times, the regular morning bus to school that you might take each day will arrive to school well after the start of exams.  So please plan a transportation plan for how you will get to morning exams and how you will be picked up from afternoon exams.

NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO LEAVE PRIOR TO THE CONCLUSION OF THE EXAM ADMINISTRATION.

Students must bring a STUDENT ID OR DRIVER’S LICENSE WITH PICTURE IDENTIFICATION.

No food, water, or other beverages may be consumed during the exam.  Students may bring a snack for the break.

Students who are taking AP Exams are expected to attend classes during the school day when they are not testing. Morning examinees are excused from blocks 1 and 2, while afternoon examinees are excused from blocks 2, 3, and 4.  Students are required to attend classes during non-testing times.  Excused absences are limited to documented illness or scheduled appointments as permitted by MN state law.

What Can't I Bring?

- Books

- Compasses

- Correction Fluid

- Dictionaries

- Highlighters

- Notes

- Rulers or straightedges

- Scratch paper

- Computers or calculators (except where noted)

- CELL PHONES, MP3s, PDA’s or any other electronic or communication device (These also may not be used during breaks.) ***

- Clothing with subject-related information

- Watches that beep or have an alarm

***NOTE – If a student is seen using an electronic device or communication device, this will result in the forfeiting of the exam.  This includes having a device make sound during the exam period.

It is very tempting to want to bring your phone or electronic device with you into the exam room.  However, we really encourage students to NOT do this and leave it in their car or other secure location.  This ensures that students will not run into this scenario while testing.  Even if the use or detection of an electronic device during testing is accidental, the student will still have to forfeit their exam.
