Lutheran South Academy's AP Policy
|
The decision whether to take an AP exam is left to the individual student and his/her parents. However, LSA does encourage students enrolled in AP courses to attempt the exams. Many students will be able to earn college credit from their AP tests and research indicates students who take AP exams generally perform better in college.
Students who desire to test:
- Should register online at www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/443395 by the November 5th deadline (January 31st for spring only classes).
- Pay the full $103 ($153 for AP Research and AP Seminar) fee per test by November 5th (January 31st for spring only classes - Economics).
- Understand that once their order is placed, $50 per test is non-refundable.
- Will incur late fees for registering late or failing to meet the payment deadline.
- Notify Mrs. Choate of any conflicts or questions.
- Contact Mrs. Choate by March 15th if they want to cancel a test and receive a partial refund (less $50).
- May only have accommodations officially approved by College Board.
- Be at the designated place at the designated time on test days.
- Realize that afternoon exams will extend beyond the regular school day.
- Most, if not all, testing will take place off the LSA campus, usually at San Jacinto College South.
- Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the test site. A limited number of seats are available on the LSA mini-bus on a first come, first serve basis.
- Pay special attention to the rules issued by College Board such as:
- Access to cell phones and other electronic devices is forbidden from the time a student enters the test site until they are dismissed.
