Information for Home-Schooled Students

Under Texas law, home-schooled students are eligible to take AP exams. To register, you must contact the Campus Testing Coordinator at Richland High School, Marcy Bergman at mkbergman@prosper-isd.net and provide proof of residency.

According to TEC 29.916, “Home-schooled student” means a student who predominantly receives instruction in a secondary education program that is provided by the parent, or a person standing in parental authority, in or through the child's home. Students who attend an online school (i.e. K-12 or Texas Tech K-12, etc.) must adhere to the requirements of the school they attend and are not eligible to test at a Prosper ISD High School.

All of the Home-Schooled Student exams will be proctored at Richland High School. Students must have their own transportation to and from Richland High School. No bus transportation will be provided.  Portfolio classes, such as any AP art, AP Computer Science Principles, or AP Capstone classes are unable to accommodate a Home-Schooled Student request. All exam fees are your responsibility, and you must adhere to the Prosper Student Code of Conduct while on campus.

Late Testing Policy

Late testing may be permitted under specific circumstances, but the final decision rests with the Campus Testing Coordinator and principal. If you are absent from an exam due to an illness or injury, you must contact your Campus Testing Coordinator by the end of the regularly scheduled exam day and provide official medical documentation.

You may also qualify for late testing if any of the following apply to your situation. Please work with your Campus Testing Coordinator to discuss your options.

Qualifying Reasons for Late Testing:

  • Conflict with state or national mandated tests

  • Emergency (e.g., serious injury, illness, family tragedy, school closing) with documentation

  • Religious holiday/observance

  • School-sponsored academic or athletic events

  • Two or more AP exams at the same time

Please be aware that only the reasons listed above qualify for late testing, and no other requests will be considered at any point during the registration process.
