Centennial High School's AP Policy

Please be aware of the AP exam policies and rules set forth by this school and the College Board:

  • No students will be allowed admittance to exam rooms once exam has started.
  • During scheduled or unscheduled breaks during exams, students are not allowed to consult textbooks, notes, or ask questions to teachers or other students.
  • Do not use electronic or communication devices during breaks.
  • Do not leave the building during the exam.
  • Do not leave the break area designated by your proctor. 

WHAT TO BRING TO THE EXAM ROOM:

  • No. 2 pencils (no mechanical) for multiple-choice answer sheet
  • Pens with black or dark blue ink for completing areas on the exam booklet covers and for free-response questions in most exams
  • Government-issued or school-issued photo I.D.
  • Calculators - If you are allowed to use a calculator on your AP Exam, review the College Board’s calculator policies to make sure you bring an acceptable calculator for your particular exam.

WHAT NOT TO BRING TO THE EXAM ROOM:

  • Electronic equipment or communication devices, like cell phones, smartphones, tablets or anything else that can access the internet
  • Cameras or other photographic equipment
  • Watches that beep or have an alarm (or smart watches)
  • No food or drink in the exam room

Calculator Policy

It is important that you are aware of the calculators that have been approved to be used during AP Exams. Additional $45 per exam cost

  • Conflict with family commitment (wedding or graduation of an immediate family member) **
  • Conflict with Centennial/FCS related academic contest/event **
  • Conflict with Centennial/FCS related athletic contest/event **
  • Other school event

Additional $15 per exam cost

  • If the student registered for the exam and then does not take it.
  • if the student registered for the exam and then has a conflict and needs a late testing exam ordered. (plus the additional cost to order the exam.) 

**Proof of the event must be provided to the AP Testing Coordinator within 5 days of the missed exam. One day of travel before and/or after the event will be permitted.

Late exams are pre-scheduled by the College Board and must be requested by noon on May 10, 2019.

If you need a to have a late exam scheduled, please see Mrs. Morrison in the Assistant Principal's office.

Late AP Exams

AP Exams are scheduled and published at least one year prior to the test dates. It is expected that students will make arrangement to avoid conflicts with their scheduled AP exams.

In the case of extenuating circumstances (see below), late testing will be allowed:

Late AP Exams will only be offered to students under the following circumstances:

At No Additional Cost-

  • Conflict with state, or nationally-mandated tests
  • Disabilities accommodation issue
  • Emergency: serious injury, illness, or family tragedy*
  • Religious holiday/observance
  • Three or more AP exams on same date
  • Two AP exam on same date and time
  • Conflict with IB Testing same date and time

*Proof of doctor's visit on physicians letterhead must be presented to the AP Testing Coordinator's within 5 days of the missed exam.
