Redwood High School's AP Policy

PLEASE BE AWARE OF AP EXAM POLICIES AND RULES SET FORTH BY THE COLLEGE BOARD AND REDWOOD HIGH SCHOOL:

  • No students will be allowed admittance to exam rooms once the exam has started.
  • During scheduled or unscheduled breaks during exams, students are not allowed to consult textbooks, notes, or ask questions to teachers or other students.
  • Students are not allowed to access electronic or communication devices during breaks.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY CHANGES OF POLICIES AND PROCEDURES WILL BE COMMUNICATED DIRECTLY TO STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

WHAT TO BRING TO THE EXAM ROOM:

  • Several No. 2 pencils (no mechanical ) for a multiple-choice answer sheet.
  • Pens with black or dark blue ink for completing areas on the exam booklet covers and for free-response questions in most exams.
  • Government-issued or school-issued photo I.D.
  • Calculators - If you are allowed to use a calculator on your AP Exam, review the College Board’s calculator policies to make sure you bring an acceptable calculator for your particular exam. Check to be sure that your calculator is in working order before the day of your exam.

WHAT NOT TO BRING TO THE EXAM ROOM:

  • Electronic equipment (phones, smartwatches, or wearable technology of any kind, laptops, tablet computers, Bluetooth devices, portable listening or recording devices—MP3 player, iPod, etc.—cameras or photographic equipment, devices that can access the internet, separate timers of any type, and any other electronic or communication devices).
    • Note: School-owned and -controlled recording devices that meet AP Program criteria are allowed only for the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exams. 
  • Mechanical pencils, No. 3 pencils, or colored pencils.
  • Rulers or straightedges (these are allowed only for AP Physics Exams).
  • Protractors.
  • Scratch paper (notes can be made on portions of the exam booklets or, for AP Chinese Language and Culture and AP Japanese Language and Culture Exams, on scratch paper provided by the proctor).
  • Computers or calculators (except as previously noted).
  • Reference guides, keyboard maps, or other typing instructions.
  • Watches that beep or have an alarm.
  • Food or drink.
  • Clothing or shoes with subject-related information.
  • Ear plugs.
  • Clipboards.
  • *Unless approved as an accommodation by College Board’s SSD office before the exam date.

ON THE DAY OF THE AP EXAM:

  • Your exam location will be visible in Total Registration 24 hours prior to your exam. 
  • Students may not be dismissed until an exam has officially ended; do not ask to leave early if you finish before the end of the exam.
  • If you play a sport or have a job, it is your responsibility to inform your coach or employer of your AP Exam obligation and arrangements should be made accordingly.
