Vandegrift High School's AP Policy

Vandegrift High School's AP examinations to be held on campus May 6-10 and May 13-17.  If two AP/IB exams are on the same day AND time, Mrs. Martin will work with you to resolve that conflict.

For students testing in the morning only:  Students do not have to report to their classes in the morning.  Students should report to the testing site no later than 7:40 am. Testing must begin at 8:00 am. Students are expected to report back to their afternoon classes once the exam has ended.

For students testing in the afternoon only:  Students should report to their classes in the morning as usual. Students will be excused from 2nd/6th period at 11:15 am, so they may eat lunch and be at their testing site no later than 11:40 am.  Testing starts promptly at 12:00 pm. Students do not have to report to their classes following test completion.

Arrival/ Dismissal

You are required to arrive on time for your exams (7:40 AM or 11:40 AM). If you arrive after the exam has started, you will not be permitted to enter; doors lock at 8:00am/ 12:00pm. Students may not be dismissed until the exam has officially ended. Do not ask to leave early if you finish before the end of the test. You are allowed to bring a snack and beverage for your 10-minute break. However, eating is prohibited while you are taking an exam. It is advisable to bring a sweater or dress in layers, in case the room temperature is not at your comfort level.

Guessing on the exams:

Scores on the multiple-choice sections of the AP exams are based on the number of questions answered. No points are awarded or deducted for incorrect answers or unanswered questions. Thus, random guessing will not lower your grade.  However, if you have some knowledge of the question and can eliminate one or more answer choices, informed guessing from among the remaining choices is usually to your advantage.

You are required to abide by the policies of both College Board and Vandegrift High School during the exam. Students involved in any misconduct will be asked to turn in their exam materials and leave the testing room. Exam grades will be automatically cancelled in this event. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Martin in the Guidance office.

Best of luck on your exam(s)!
