El Toro High School's AP Policy

Please be aware of the AP exam policies and rules set forth by this school and the College Board:

  • No students will be allowed admittance to exam rooms once exam has started.
  • During scheduled or unscheduled breaks during exams, students are not allowed to consult textbooks, notes, or ask questions to teachers or other students. Do not use electronic or communication devices during breaks.
  • Do not leave the building during the exam.
  • Food must be taken out of the wrapper and placed in a clear plastic bag and placed under the desk or an adjacent room during the exam, and only accessed during scheduled breaks.  Bottled water must be in clear bottles without labels, and placed under the desk and only during scheduled breaks.

WHAT TO BRING TO THE EXAM ROOM:

Put the following in a single clear zipped baggie:

  • No. 2 pencils (not mechanical) for multiple-choice answer sheet
  • Pens with black or dark blue ink for completing areas on the exam booklet covers and for free-response questions in most exams
  • Government-issued or school-issued photo I.D.
  • Calculators - If you are allowed to use a calculator on your AP Exam, review the College Board’s calculator policies to make sure you bring an acceptable calculator for your particular exam.
  • Optional: food or water per the policy above

WHAT NOT TO BRING TO THE EXAM ROOM:

  • Students may NOT bring a mobile phone or other electronic equipment or communication devices such as tablets, smart watches or anything else that can access the internet or has GPS into the exam room. These must be placed in a locker or another secure area determined by the student.  The school will not hold them or have a place to store them.  
  • Students may NOT bring a backpack, bag, or purse into the exam room. These must be placed in a locker or another secure area determined by the student.  The school will not hold them or have a place to store them.  
  • Cameras or other photographic equipment
  • Watches that beep or have an alarm (or smart watches)
