AP EXAM 2025

Expectations: Students are required to abide by the policies of both The College Board and BRRSD and will be strictly enforced.  Parents/Guardians please discuss expectations with your child.  Exams must move forward with the understanding that proper behavior is shown and procedures are followed.  Unfortunately, the following has to be mentioned based on previous student behaviors. Misconduct will be reported and could jeopardize students' AP exam scores.

  • Read all Monthly AP Exam Newsletters

  • Arrive on time

  • Only bring items that are allowed into the exam room.

  • Respect all Administration and Proctors: 

    • When waiting in the hall outside your assigned testing room students should be quiet.  Staff members are trying to conduct business in The Main Office and the Attendance Office which are directly across from the Library.

  • When silence is requested please do so immediately and remain silent until told otherwise. 

  • Proctors should not have to constantly remind students to remain quiet.

  • Respect all Students: 

    • Students are testing in connecting rooms therefore silence entering and exiting the room is imperative.

  • Break times for connecting rooms will take place at different times.  Please be mindful that your peers deserve the same respect given to you to test in a quiet environment. Proctors should not have to constantly remind students to remain quiet. If constant reminders are given, students will be dismissed from the exam.

Room Assignments: Students please review your specific AP Exam schedule in your Total Registration account prior to the start of exams.

Arrival: 

  • Students are required to arrive at their assigned testing room at 7:30 am for the morning administrations. 

  • Students are required to arrive at their assigned testing room at 11:45 am for the afternoon administrations

  • Students with College Board Approved Accommodations should report to the Main Guidance Office.  Room assignments will be given at this time.

Dismissal:

  • Please refer to the attached Timing Document. Office staff will not have additional information, therefore respectfully do not contact the school asking for release times.

Students may not be dismissed until an exam has officially ended; do not ask to leave early if you finish before the end of the exam.  If you play a sport or have a job, it is your obligation to inform your coach or employer of your AP Exam obligation, and arrangements should be made accordingly. No rescheduling of exams except for emergency illness or Sr. Prom.  Please review the monthly AP Exam Newsletters for valuable information concerning the AP Exam Process. 




 

Items NOT ALLOWED in the exam room:

  • The College Board PROHIBITS ALL CELL PHONES AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES

Students that are found to be in possession of an electronic device including cell phones will be dismissed from the exam room. The device may be temporarily confiscated and The College Board will immediately be made aware of the violation of testing security policies. Possible outcomes for breach of security policies may result in score cancellation, no rescheduling and no refund. Under some circumstances students may be banned from future testing (AP, SAT, CLEP). 

  • Text books

  • Course notes

  • Backpacks, tissues, pencil cases, hats, blankets, purses, wallets, ID protectors, etc.

Students that are found to be in possession of anything other than the allowable items on the following list will be dismissed from the exam room. Students will secure items and will be allowed back in the testing room if the exam has not begun. If the exam has started students will not be allowed entrance into the room and the exam will be canceled with no refund or rescheduling.

 

Items ALLOWED in the exam room:

You may use a clear plastic bag to hold these items

 

  • A government-issued or your school-issued photo ID.  No other items will be accepted.

  • Several sharpened No. 2 pencils (with erasers) for completing multiple-choice answer sheets.  Mechanical pencils are not permitted.

  • Pens with black or dark blue ink for completing areas on the exam booklet covers and for free-response questions in most exams.

  • Up to two calculators with necessary capabilities if you are taking an AP Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Economics, Environmental, Physics, or Statistics Exam.

  • A ruler or straightedge only if you are taking an AP Physics Exam. Protractors are not allowed.

  • Personal analog watch.

  • A snack and a bottle of water.

  • It is advisable to bring a sweater/jacket in case the room temperature is below your comfort level.


 

Cancellation/Refund: Students who wish to cancel an exam must go to their Total Registration account and request to cancel their exam prior to the test date. This is the only way to receive a refund. The College Board has set a refund fee of $40 per exam.

Examples: 

Exam fee $103.00 – Cancellation Fee $40.00 = $63.00 Refund. 

Exam fee $103.00 + Late Order Fee non-refundable $40.00 = $143.00 – Cancellation Fee $40.00 = $63.00 Refund

 

No Show Fee: Students who do not sit for an exam and do not request a cancellation through Total Registration (see above cancellation policy) prior to the exam, will forfeit their entire refund, no exceptions.

AP Class Section Changes/Dropped Classes: Students should log-in to their student account in Total Registration to request a teacher/period update in their registration and you will be sent an updated join code to the new section.  If you have dropped the class and no longer wish to take the exam you must also cancel your exam in the Total Registration site. 

 

Alternate Exams for Late Testing Circumstances: Occasionally, circumstances make it necessary for students to test late.  Please see the following for further information.

  • Student Illness: Parent/Guardian must contact the AP Coordinator prior to/on the day of the exam.  Please include the student’s name, grade, exam they are missing and indicate that the student will not be present due to illness.  If your child will recover in time to test during the “Alternate Exams” schedule posted by The College Board you must also make a request to take an “Alternate Exam” in the email. In order for an “Alternate Exam” to be ordered we must first have a note on the physician’s /hospital’s letterhead stating the child’s name, the name/date of the missed AP exam and a statement from the Physician that the child has not been cleared to sit for their AP exam on the specified date.  Once this document has been received by the AP Coordinator  an AP exam will be ordered and you will be contacted by email to confirm the date/time of the exam.  If the student no longer wishes to sit for the exam, please follow the Cancellation instructions above or you will be considered a No Show. You must also follow the BRHS attendance reporting procedures. 

 

  • Multiple Exams on Same Day and Same Time: Students who are enrolled in two AP courses where the AP exams are scheduled for the same date and same time should register for BOTH AP exams.  One exam will be taken at the regular scheduled AP testing date/time, and the other will be taken during the late testing window as dictated by The College Board at no additional fee. The AP Coordinator will make changes in The College Board and Total Registration. There is no need for the student to contact the AP Coordinator however closer to the beginning of exams students should review their College Board and Total Registration accounts to see when the exam has been scheduled. 

 

  • State School  Athletic Event: Coach must email the request immediately to the AP Coordinator. The request must include Name of State Athletic Event, student name, name and date of AP Exam.
