You must bring the following items to the exam:

  • Several sharpened No. 2 pencils (with erasers) for all multiple-choice answer sheets.
  • Pens with black or dark blue ink for completing areas on the exam booklet covers and for free-response (DBQ, FRQ, etc) questions in most exams.
  • A calculator with the necessary capabilities if you’re taking an AP Calculus, Chemistry, or Statistics Exam. Visit www.collegeboard.com/apstudents to learn more about the calculator policy for each of these exams, and for a list of authorized calculators.

You may not bring the following to the exam:

  • Cellular phones, pagers, MP3 players, or personal digital assistants (PDAs)
  • Books, compasses, colored pencils, correction fluid, dictionaries, highlighters, or notes
  • Rulers and straightedges (except as noted above)
  • Scratch paper (notes can be made on portions of the exam booklets)
  • Computers or calculators (except as noted above)
  • Watches that beep, have an alarm, or internet capability
  • Portable listening or recording devices (even with headphones) or photographic equipment
  • Food or drink
  • Clothing with subject-related information

You are required to arrive at the testing site 20 minutes prior to your exam: 7:30 a.m. for the morning administration; 11:30 a.m. for the afternoon administration. Doors will lock promptly at the times listed above. NO STUDENTS WILL BE ADMITTED ONCE DOORS ARE LOCKED. College Board does not allow interruptions to testing for late entrants. No students will be dismissed until the full time allotted for an exam has officially expired. If you play a sport or have a job, it will be your responsibility to inform your coach or employer of your AP obligation and arrangements should be made accordingly.

Get a good night’s rest before your test, and eat a nutritious breakfast. You are allowed to bring a snack and beverage for your 10-minute break, but it will be kept in the storage area away from testing until time for the break. Eating is prohibited in the testing area and while you are taking an exam. All bags, purses, food, drinks, and other non-testing materials will be kept away from the testing area. It is advisable to bring a sweater in case the room temperature is below your comfort level.

You are required to abide by the behavior and academic policies of both the College Board and Porter High School during the exam period. Any misconduct will be reported and could jeopardize your AP Exam grade.

Students will be dismissed from morning exams by about noon. Students who do not have other AP exams scheduled in the afternoon will be required to return to class. Teachers may not give permission for students to leave school after an exam. Students taking afternoon exams must attend morning classes and will attend A lunch in order to arrive in the testing room at the designated time. Afternoon exams usually end between 4:00 - 4:30 p.m. Make advance arrangements for alternate transportation if you are a bus rider.

Be sure to review the Bulletin for Students and Parents that you received through your AP classes (this will be handed out in the Spring). If you have any additional concerns, please feel free to contact Ms. Hart or Mr. Power. Good luck!

Mr. Timothy Power, AP Campus Leader                                                         Ms. Kathleen Hart, Testing Coordinator

I acknowledge that I have read and understand the Letter of AP Rules and Late Entrance Policy and will abide by the rules and policies set forth by College Board and Porter High School.
