As you prepare for your AP exam, this document provides additional information with specific directions to ensure a positive testing experience this year.
Items you should bring with you to the exam:
- If scheduled for a digital exam, a fully charged laptop with the Blue Book app installed and your charging cord.
- No. 2 pencils for your multiple-choice answer sheet.
- Pens with black or dark blue ink for completing areas on the exam booklet covers and for free-response questions in most exams.
- An acceptable calculator if your AP Exam allows the use of a calculator.
- If you don’t attend the school where you’re taking the exam: a current government-issued or school-issued photo ID. (Additional ID may be required by authorized test centers outside the United States.)
- If applicable, your College Board SSD Accommodations Letter if you are taking an exam with approved testing accommodations.
Items you should not bring with you to the exam:
- BACKPACKS, BAGS and/or CASES – you must arrange to store these items before coming to the test room – items cannot be left in the hallway – if needed, you will be provided a locker to use during the exam to store these items.
- Food or drink, including bottled water—these are not allowed in the exam room
- Any electronic equipment or communication devices, including:
- Phones, smartwatches, or wearable technology of any kind
- Laptops or tablet computers (unless scheduled for a digital exam)
- Bluetooth devices
- Portable listening or recording devices such as MP3 players and iPods
- Cameras or other photographic equipment
- Devices that can access the internet
- Separate timers of any type
- Any other electronic or communication devices
A student observed with any of these devices during testing or breaks may be dismissed from the exam, the device may be confiscated, the student’s score may be canceled, and no retest may be permitted.
Release from class during testing. Please inform your teachers beforehand that you will not be in class. You are responsible for missed assignments and making up tests. You will need to adjust your lunch if testing interferes with your scheduled lunch period. If you are scheduled for two exams on the same day, please pack a lunch since the break between exams may not occur during a lunch period. Plan to arrive 10 minutes before your posted testing time. AP policy states that students may not be dismissed until an exam time has officially ended; do not ask to leave early if you finish before the end of the exam. If you play a sport or have a job, it is your responsibility to inform your coach or employer of your AP Exam obligation, and arrangements should be made accordingly. In addition, students scheduled for an exam extending beyond the school day are responsible to arrange transportation home after the exam.
Suggestions for best results. Get a good night’s rest before your exam and eat a nutritious breakfast. Eating and drinking is prohibited in the exam room. A snack and/or beverage is allowed during your 10-minute break but must always be kept under your seat. It is advisable to bring a sweater, jacket, or sweatshirt in case the room temperature is below your comfort level.
Final thoughts. You are required to abide by the policies of both the College Board and Seneca Valley High School during the exam period. Any misconduct will be reported and could jeopardize your AP Exam score. If you decide not to take an exam, please inform the guidance office before your scheduled test day/time.
You will be able to access your AP scores online in July. If you have any additional questions or concerns, feel free to contact me.
Good luck!
Mrs. McQuiston - AP Coordinator
PLEASE REMEMBER - CELL PHONES AND BACKPACKS ARE NOT PERMITTED DURING THE EXAM
You will need to secure these items before reporting for your exam!
