Mountlake Terrace High School's AP Policy

Dear 2016 AP Scholars,

Thank you for all of your good work preparing for your AP exams!  We are proud of you and wish you all the best!  Below is some important info for you to know:

  • This year all tests will be administered at MTHS. We will publish the room assignments and schedule after registration is closed.

  • Please arrive on time for exams:  Students who arrive late may NOT be able to take their exams. We will begin seating at 7:20 am for morning sessions. Students must arrive NO LATER than 7:20 am for morning exams and 11:30 am for afternoon exams.  Students with approved accommodations will be contacted regarding the location for their test.

  • You must stay for the entire testing and may NOT leave early even if you have completed your exam. Leaving early will disqualify your exam.  Afternoon testing should be done at approximately 4pm.  Please plan accordingly and make sure your parents/coaches realize you won’t be done until approx. 4pm.

  • Note:  Your money will NOT be refunded if you fail to show up for your exam because we have already paid for the exams. Be sure to check the testing dates below to see if it conflicts with a district athletic event in which you are a participant.  If this is the case bring a note from your MTHS coach and see Barb Brister immediately to schedule late testing.  There is an additional fee of $55 for late testing and there is a specified date for late testing.

  • You are excused periods 1 – 4 for morning testing.  You are excused periods 4 – 6 for afternoon testing.   Students testing in the afternoon should take 1st lunch.

  • AP scores will be available online in July.  You MUST sign up for an account at www.apscore.org to get your scores.

Do’s and Don’ts:

DO:

  • Do:  Bring ID!   Bring either your MTHS ID or a driver’s license.

  • Do:  Bring four or five well sharpened standard #2 pencils and a pen. Do not bring mechanical pencils as they do not scan well.

  • Do:  Bring graphing calculator if testing for AP Calculus and AP Stats.  A scientific or graphing calculator is permitted for parts of AP Chemistry and Physics.  Refer to www.collegeboard.org/ap/calculators for the most current list of approved calculators.

  • Do:  Be quiet during instructions and during testing. Any talking during the exam, including exam instructions, may disqualify your exam and may result in a discipline referral for failure to comply.

  • Do:  Shut the door slowly and carefully when entering or leaving the testing room.   Note:  You may request to go to the bathroom during testing.  Please raise your hand for permission to do so.  Only one student may leave at a time.

  • Do:  Bring snacks and water for break time.   Snacks must be stored in a clear plastic bag labeled with your name.  Snacks, including beverages, are not allowed at the testing table but you may have access to them at breaks.

  • Do:  Bring Kleenex if you have allergies or a cold.

  • Do: Get a good night’s rest and eat a good breakfast the day of testing.

DON’T:

  • Don’t: Bring a purses or backpack.

  • Don’t: Bring a Cell Phone or any other kind of electronic device!  We will NOT have a secure place to store cell phones. Failure to disclose cell phone/electronic devices can result in disqualifying all students’ exams and will result in a discipline referral for failure to comply.

Please see Tanya Benvenuti or Barb Brister if you have any questions.  Thanks again for all of your fantastic work!
