Edward S. Marcus High School's AP Policy

MHS AP Policies:

  1. Checking In: Students must have a photo ID present when checking in (Student ID, Driver's License, Passport, etc.)
  2. Morning Exams: Students need to arrive to MHS by 7:30am. Exam check in begins at 7:40 and exam directions begin at 7:45. Students will begin their exam promptly at 8:00am (meaning they are reading/answering questions).  Anyone arriving after 7:40 will not be allowed into the testing room and will not test.  There are no makeup exams even if "there is traffic" - plan accordingly.  It is imperative students arrive early.
  3. Afternoon Exams: Students will need to bring their lunch on exam day and report to the testing area no later than 11:50. Late students will not be allowed into the testing room and will not test. There are no makeup exams. It is imperative students arrive early.
  4. Students taking 2 exams in one day (morning and afternoon) need to bring their lunch and will eat between test sessions. They will be the first group of students dismissed from the morning exam to allow them more time to eat. No need for students to stress or panic, we know which students need to have time to eat and recharge before the afternoon exam.
  5. Cell Phones/Smartwatches/Tablets/Computers: are PROHIBITED from the testing room & during breaks.  Any student found with a device during the exam or breaks will be dismissed and College Board will be notified.
  6. Calculators: The built-in Desmos graphing calculator will be available in Bluebook for AP exams. Students can provide their own calculators and batteries.  Please check to make sure it is working, and it is an approved calculator prior to test day.  Visit the AP Website to see the calculator policy by subject & approved calculators.  *Ruler or Straightedge is allowed for the Physics exams.
  7. Pencils & Pens: Mechanical pencils are not allowed bring 2-3 sharpened pencils. Also bring 1-2 blue or black pens for the written portions of the exam.
  8. Social Media & Exam Content: College Board is watching!  Any attempt to share or joke about test content will be subject to College Board cancelling your exam.  Please be aware and do not talk about or share any information about the exam - do not even make-up pretend test content and post it.  (trust me!)
  9. Other Prohibited Items:  Books, compasses, protractors, correction fluid/tape, dictionaries, highlighters, notes, study guides, colored pencils, scratch paper, watches that make noise including smart watches, clothing with subject-related information, food or drink.
