Tomball Memorial High School's AP Policy

Please review the following AP Exam policies and procedures established by Tomball Memorial High School and the College Board. Students are responsible for following all testing rules and procedures.

CHECK-IN PROCEDURES

  • Arrive at least 40 minutes before your scheduled exam time.
    • 8:00 AM exams: Arrive no later than 7:20 AM.
    • 12:00 PM exams: Arrive no later than 11:20 AM.
  • Bring a valid photo ID for check-in. Acceptable identification includes a school ID, driver's license, Texas ID, or passport.
  • No students will be admitted to the testing room once the exam has begun.
  • All electronic devices must be completely powered off and stored in the student's backpack outside the testing room.
  • During scheduled and unscheduled breaks, students may not:
    • Use cell phones or other electronic or communication devices.
    • Access textbooks, notes, or other study materials.
    • Communicate with teachers or other students about the exam.
    • Snacks and drinks are permitted outside the testing room during breaks only.
    • Students must remain in the assigned testing area for the duration of the exam.

WHAT TO BRING TO THE EXAM ROOM

  • Valid photo ID — School ID, driver's license, Texas ID, or passport.
  • No. 2 pencils — Mechanical pencils are not permitted. 
  • Pens with black or dark blue ink — Required for completing areas on the exam booklet covers and for free-response questions.
  • Calculator, if permitted — If your AP Exam allows calculator use, review the College Board's calculator policies to ensure you bring an approved calculator for your specific exam.

WHAT NOT TO BRING INTO THE EXAM ROOM

The following items are not permitted in the testing room:

  • Cell phones, smartphones, tablets, or other electronic or communication devices
  • Any device capable of accessing the internet
  • Cameras or other photographic equipment
  • Smartwatches
  • Watches that beep or have an alarm

Students should leave prohibited items at home whenever possible.
